The Challenge: High Competition & Wasted Ad Spend
For e-commerce businesses operating on price comparison websites, being the “cheapest” is often the only way to win the sale. Our client, a faucet and bathroom accessories retailer, faced two major hurdles:

- Manual Overhead: Updating thousands of prices manually based on wholesaler shifts and competitor moves was a logistical nightmare and prone to human error.
The Solution: An Intelligent “Profit-First” Automation
We engineered a custom automation layer that connected market intelligence directly to the storefront. Instead of a “set it and forget it” approach, we built a system that evaluated the viability of every single product on a daily basis.
How it worked:
- Data Aggregation: We used Google Apps Script and the Bright Data API to crawl leading price comparison websites, capturing real-time competitor pricing.
- Centralized Logic: All product data, wholesale costs, and target margins were managed within Google Sheets, which served as a user-friendly “Command Center” for the client.
- Automated Decision Making: The system ran a daily calculation: Wholesale Price + Target Margin vs. Market Leader Price.
- If Competitive: The system updated the WooCommerce price and enabled the product for price comparison feeds.
- If Non-Competitive: The system automatically pulled the product from external feeds to prevent “burning” budget on clicks that won’t convert.
